The Mensa constellation

Why this name?
The constellation is named after the real Table Mountain near Cape Town. It commemorates the place from which Lacaille studied the southern sky.
A little history
Lacaille proposed the name in the eighteenth century after his South African expedition. The nearby Large Magellanic Cloud reminded him of the cloud ‘tablecloth’ over the mountain.
